Secondhand reigns in the hierarchy of sustainable fashion. This is good news for the green-minded girls who still drool over a Prada handbag.
In the past five years The Wardrobe Boutique has become a go-to boutique for frugal fashionistas — who just happen to be giving back to the community every time they shop. Now it’s easier than ever to snatch up high-end second-hand finds and support Career Wardrobe as The Wardrobe Boutique launches its e-commerce store at wardrobeboutique.org.
The online store offers the very best of the retail shop’s offerings, from designer COACH boots to Diane von Furstenberg dresses to rare vintage finds. This new outlet for selling merchandise will make supporting Career Wardrobe even easier as women can now shop at home and have their purchases delivered to their home or office. Just like at the store, shoppers will be able to find designer finds at more than 50% off retail prices. And women can shop knowing that their new purchases directly benefit other women who are transitioning into the workforce.
The Wardrobe Boutique opened in 2009 as a functional outlet for the high quality clothing donations given to Career Wardrobe that are not appropriate for its mission of providing women with free professional clothing for job interviews, employment, and training. The 5000-square foot boutique at 1822 Spring Garden St. offers new and gently-used women’s apparel and accessories in an upscale boutique atmosphere. At The Wardrobe Boutique, shoppers find nearly new but affordable business, casual, designer, vintage, and evening apparel.
The Wardrobe Boutique holds special in-store events throughout the year including college shopping nights, holiday promotions, pop-up boutiques for local designers, and prom and wedding gown sale events. The online store will also host virtual events such as offering special discount codes to clothing donors and Facebook friends when they shop online.
All proceeds directly benefit Career Wardrobe, the nation’s largest independent community-based nonprofit organization providing women in transition with free professional clothing and educational opportunities to help them successfully find and retain employment. Career Wardrobe’s services empower women by inspiring the confidence necessary to achieve self-sufficiency for themselves and their families. Since 1995, Career Wardrobe has assisted more than 80,000 women.
