Sustainable Holiday Gifts: Plan Toys Review

As a green-minded parent it is so hard to find toys we can feel good about buying. I can literally count the brands I like on one hand. PlanToys is one of them.

PlanToys was founded in Thailand, as a way to utilize rubberwood trees that no longer produce latex.  To keep the rubberwood pure, no fertilizer is added to the soil for three years before the trees are cut. Toys are made from organic rubberwood, e-zero glue, water-based dyes, and recycled and recyclable materials.

PlanToys is not only well-known for being the first company in the world to manufacture wooden toys from preservative-free rubberwood, it is one of the leading company to create new material and process to minimize waste up to zero. Their toy factories are located in the city of Trang, which is located in the southern region of Thailand. The area is rich with rubberwood which they have successfully recycled for manufacturing toys. Their toys are produced entirely within their own facility, so they have complete control over every aspect of the manufacturing process. Their facilities and toys reflect their respect for the environment and their commitment to designing unique natural playthings for children.

We have everything from the Plan Toys Train Set to the Baby Roller and we continue to be impressed with the quality and detail. Recently the company sent me along two of its newer educational toys, the Frog Life Puzzle and the Activity Clock. Currently my daughter is too young for the puzzle but my son is just about ready to start telling time properly, as opposed to telling us that he will take his bath when it is 11 o’clock. We will add these to our collection of toys we can feel good about, and make room by donating, regifting, or recycling many of the gifts we don’t want! Call me a picky mama, but if it has more than 30 pieces it’s gotta go!
