Join The Great Cloth Diaper Change in Philadelphia

Did you know that there is a huge community of people working yearly to beat the Guiness World Record for simultaneously changed cloth diapers? And you can be a part of it right here in Philadelphia.

Diapers Plus cloth diaper service and The Nesting House, a retail store selling gently used and new cloth diapers and other baby items will co-host the Philadelphia hub for The Great Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC) . The Great Cloth Diaper Change Philadelphia Site will be held at Mt. Airy (Summit Presbyterian Church) on Saturday, April 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. GCDC is sponsored by Real Diaper Association (RDA), a nonprofit that advocates for reusable diapers.  GCDC is gearing up for the third world record attempt to show the world that cloth diapers are a real option for today’s modern families.

What began as a small grass roots campaign in 2011 has quickly become a global event. In 2011, they set the Guinness World Record for the most cloth diapers changed at one time, and in 2012 broke that record by over 3,000!  The initial idea of the GCDC was to develop an infrastructure for cloth diapering fans in North America to be able to get involved, either as a participant or an organizer.  Word quickly traveled across the oceans, and it was soon evident that cloth diapering has a formidable following not just in North America but around the world.  Several countries hosted GCDC events in 2011 and 2012, even though for some it meant getting up in the middle of the night to do so.  This year they’re holding a slightly different event by allowing events to take place at a set local time.
