When I was a kid all I wanted for lunch was Kraft Lunchables – and I was lucky enough that my mother wouldn’t let me have them. They are uniformly shaped crackers with processed meats and cheeses that kids can stack in assorted variations. Recently someone posted a parody on the product with the tagline, “Mom Gave Up.”
Instead, I got to keep a brown paper bag with a soggy tuna fish on Wonder Bread sandwich in a locker for several hours. Somehow I narrowly avoided botulism. Fortunately, today’s parents are much better informed and have healthier options readily available – at least when it comes to packing lunch. The lunches served in school cafeterias are a whole other story.
