Support Bill to Ban BPA in Baby Products

Thanks to my friends at PennFuture for the heads up on this new BPA bill being proposed in Pennsylvania.

New research from the University of Missouri shows that Bisphenol-A, or BPA, is even more dangerous than previously thought. BPA is linked to breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes, male infertility and other problems. Baby bottles containing BPA are banned in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin due to concerns with the impact of BPA on the brain development of fetuses, infants and children.

In Pennsylvania, Representative Larry Curry’s (D-Montgomery) House Bill 192 would ban BPA in infant and baby products manufactured or sold in Pennsylvania. HB 192 is in the House Health Committee chaired by Representative Matt Baker (R-Tioga).

Please take a moment to contact your congressperson to urge them to support and co-sponsor this bill.

You can find your representative here.

Here is the letter I sent. Feel free to borrow as much as you like from my template:

Dear House Member,

I am writing to urge you to support and co-sponsor House Bill 192, which would ban BPA in infant and baby products manufactured or sold in Pennsylvania.

Baby bottles containing BPA are banned in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, Washington

Please help make Pennsylvania a progressive leader in protecting our children’s health.

Sincerely,

Paige
