Sometimes I feel like the crunchiest woman in the room. But more often than not, I feel like the farthest thing from a holistic mother. The beauty of it is that we don’t have to commit to any one way of parenting and we can take pieces of different ideas to create a lifestyle that works for us.
Whether you’re sporting a beautiful bump or in the throes of toddlerhood, check out the Inspired Family Conference, March 22 at Temple University Student Center. Inspired Family aims to give parents a space to dialogue with experts and each other on topics relevant to prenatal experience, infancy, and toddlerhood. Their goal is to offer opportunities for parents to become informed and inspired, collecting the tools to make their own set of unique parenting decisions.
The 48 workshops and demonstrations will cover topics including balancing work/family; preparing for birth and labor; breastfeeding; early childhood development; infant massage; nutrition; finding childcare; yoga/fitness; and challenging the “super mom myth.”
The Inspired Family Marketplace and Parenting Center will showcase more than 60 resources and vendors from throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Attendees will have the chance to participate in a yoga class, enjoy a Babywearing Fashion Show (who knew?), get a professional photo taken, enjoy local children’s music and story time, and connect with other like-minded parents. And, of course, there will be swag – a gift bag full of actually useful goodies.
